Stroma is not simply interested in air-tightness testing buildings - we are here to help the builder or contractor achieve first time compliance. By engaging us at an early stage, Stroma can have a vital influence on the eventual test result. This can be achieved via a combination of supporting services.
- Training & CPD Seminars
Stroma frequently deliver short training sessions and seminars to a cross section of the design and construction teams, so as to raise awareness regarding the right (and wrong) ways to approach achieving air-tightness compliance. - Design Reviews
Specific desk-top studies of the 'air barrier' details on construction drawings can be carried out to identify potential weaknesses and recommend methods for improvement. Meetings and workshops with Designers and Architects are encouraged as part of this service. - Pre-Test Air Barrier Audits
Given their low cost, these on-site inspections frequently prove invaluable. At an appropriate stage prior to the formal test, we will thoroughly inspect the relevant details within the building (ideally with site staff in attendance). The notable details are photographed and recorded; they are then conveyed back via a detailed illustrated report that can be acted on in time for the test. - Sample Testing
As a means to check common or repeat construction details for air-tightness, it is often useful to conduct an early test of a representative area or room that is perhaps more advanced than the rest of the building. Although it can be difficult to achieve a reliable numerical air-tightness result (due to internal air-movement) it does enable the suspect details to be checked under pressure using smoke testing.
