Non-Residential Testing |

Having carried out air permeability testing and leakage diagnosis on well over a thousand larger buildings, embracing educational establishments, hospitals, superstores, office buildings, factories, warehouses, cinemas, etc, Stroma boast a formidable degree of experience in the non-residential sector.
Furthermore, we are a UKAS-accredited for carrying out air permeability tests to the required methodologies, including ATTMA TS1 (required by the 2006 revision of Building Regulations Part L), along with BS EN 13829 and CIBSE TM23.
Other reasons to engage Stroma for your air-tightness compliance requirements are:-
- Stroma Engineers are all graduates and highly trained to be able to conduct tests on all types of buildings, to interpret the data and produce the subsequent reports and certification. We do not use semi-skilled or sub-contract staff to carry out our tests.
- We will assist in preparing the building for its test, such as carrying out any remaining temporary sealing work.
- In the event that the test result is a 'fail', our Engineers can carry out a detailed and thorough examination of the building, using their experience to find leakage sites using smoke puffers. If required they will also produce a detailed, illustrated Audit Report based on this inspection; this will be invaluable in addressing the excess leakage.
- We can produce the envelope area calculation if required. This is a key parameter that has to be determined accurately and verifiably. It is often a challenging and time-consuming task, particularly in more complex buildings.
- If involved at an early stage of the project we will offer to visit site free of charge to discuss the critical details of the 'air barrier' with relevant contract staff. By raising awareness, this can often be a very useful meeting.
- We are flexible. Having engineers based around the country we work UK-wide and at times to suit the contractor. We will stay until the job is done and we don't charge for 'excess hours'.
Stroma offers a number of services to help contractors achieve air-tightness compliance 'first time'. These include training and seminars, design reviews & design workshops, site audits and sample area testing. These activities are relatively low cost but can often have a hugely positive impact on the eventual result.
To engage Stroma on your next project, please send dimensioned construction drawings of the plans, elevations and sections of the building in question and we will provide a detailed proposal by return.
