Asbestos Services
Stroma is adding another service to our already extensive offering. We can now deliver all necessary services pertaining to the identification, monitoring and management of asbestos and can provide specific, yet comprehensive solutions for all requirements.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 stipulate that the duty holder for any non-domestic property must identify, monitor and manage asbestos on their premises.
Section 1 of regulation 4 in The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 defines the duty-holder as: “every person who has, by virtue of a contract or tenancy, an obligation of any extent in relation to the maintenance or repair of non-domestic premises or any means of access thereto or egress there from.”
Under this regulation, you are likely to be the duty-holder if you own, manage or rent the premises.
The regulations specify that the duty holder is obligated to:
- Ascertain - and maintain a written record of - the location of asbestos on the premises
- Assess and document the risk posed by the ACMs (Asbestos-Containing Material) on the premises
- Ensure that the relevant information is available to anyone who requires it (for example, the emergency services)
- Generate and implement an asbestos management plan
- Carry out inspections of all ACMs on the premises – at least annually – and keep a written record.

Asbestos Surveying Services
We offer two survey options:
- Type 2 sampling surveys followed by a comprehensive report which includes action plans and CAD-generated plans. Once the survey has been completed, Stroma is able to provide long term monitoring and management of any asbestos found.
- Type 3 surveys which are required prior to any refurbishment or demolition works. A type 3 survey will identify asbestos which can not be detected in a standard type 2 survey.
All our surveys are conducted in accordance with MDHS 100 and quality standard ISO17020.
The action plan included in the survey report includes a concise yet detailed action plan which is easy to implement. It will also advise on the best possible approach for your asbestos management plan.

Asbestos Awareness Training
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 also specify that any employee in a trade where contact with asbestos is likely should complete mandatory asbestos awareness training. Any organisation whose employees risk encountering asbestos has a statutory duty to supply regular asbestos awareness training to ensure continued safety in the workplace.
Stroma provides training solutions which can be adapted to suit the individual needs of your business. We can provide courses aimed at on-site, supervisory or management staff. Delivered nationwide, we can either come to your premises or arrange an external venue, as necessary. To minimise disruption on site, we even offer weekend training options.
